The Checkered Origami Diamond

Checkered Patterns

by Serhiy Grabarchuk

An Origami rhombus.

Forty-eight 2-unit-side checkered rhombuses.

This is a rhombic version of the Origami Checkerboard puzzle. It uses an unusual Origami sheet of paper in the form of a 60-degree rhombus colored just on one of its sides.

In this page you can see forty-eight 2-unit-side checkered rhombic patterns. Your challenge is to achieve every of them in the minimum of single "book" folds; see a sample. The final shape every time is a flat, 60-degree rhombus; no matter what pattern will be at its back. Write us about your minimal solutions to these patterns. All the best results will be posted.

Even much more difficult challenges can be finding all the 3-unit-side
checkered rhombic patterns and their minimal solutions.
